Community for SFF Readers and Writers

It’s dangerous to go alone, but you don’t have to! Our Discord community is a place for people who love science fiction and fantasy to unite.

If you are a reader, join the group for the discussions on what you’re reading, the book club, and the book reviews posted by book bloggers. If you love sci-fi and fantasy, this is the place for you!

If you’re a writer, join for the above, PLUS our channels on writing, world building, monthly writing challenges, contests, editors’ advice, manuscript swap, and more.

Being an author can be a lonely road, but it doesn’t have to be. Communities are truly the life blood of our work here at Mythos & Ink. In addition to producing wonderful stories, we want to encourage writers and other creatives.

What is Discord?

Discord is a voice, text, and video chat service with over a quarter of a billion users. It’s popular with gamers, but any online community can take advantage of the application’s features, and we are doing just that!

If you are unfamiliar with the app but want to check out our community, have no fear! We’ve made an intro video on how to navigate it. The app may look strange at first if you’re comparing it to Facebook or something familiar, but the way it organizes channels and conversations is awesome. Trust us.

How Do I Join?

There are two ways you can join after downloading the app and creating a Discord account:

1) Join for free by clicking this link. Anyone can join and you can invite others to do so as well!

2) Join our Patreon. You will automatically be added to our Discord channel, plus you get a cool title depending on which tier you pick (Squid, Kitsune, Griffin, Phoenix, Kirin, or Dragon). Patrons get some extra bonuses in our Discord channel (i.e. you can do some things that no one else can, like ask the editors questions), as well as other awesome stuff on our Patreon page.

Once you’ve joined, start reading the channels under the START HERE category. You will see the #welcome channel, which, if you click on it, has instructions on how to tag yourself as a writer if you want access to our WRITING and PUBLISHING categories. Then read the #rules, #how-to-navigate, #introduce-yourself, #meet-the-staff, and #mythos-news. Then explore the rest of the channels! We’re looking forward to meeting you there.
